For many, budget becomes an important consideration when doing anything lately. It’s no different when creating a blog for your business. How much is it going to cost you to get started? What potential expenses will you have in the future?

The good news is that blogs are inexpensive to create as well as to maintain. Your time is really the biggest cost factor (and in the future that can even be outsourced at a “real” cost). Writing interesting posts is the most time consuming part of your blog once it’s set up and running.

I go through all of the costs associated with a blog in the video below. I point out which I think are required and which can be optional.

Your blog really is an essential part of your online business so once you understand the costs, you have no excuse but to get started!

Why Bother with a Blog?

Now I’ve already given you the skinny on how your blog is your central hub and how to effectively use it within your lead generation and sales funnel processes here. This post, however, is focused on understanding all of the benefits of creating a blog for your network marketing, MLM or direct sales business.

Why would you want a blog to begin with? What are the benefits of owning your own blog? Creating and maintaining a good blog is demanding but once you understand the many benefits, you will be motivated to get yours going!

I personally think the two most critical benefits are having a place for your prospects, team members, or customers to come to, to learn more about you, share ideas, and build relationships. The other is the ranking capability within search engines. Your blog is a piece of internet real estate that has no boundaries…

Weak Desires Bring Weak Results

To achieve your dreams and live the life you deserve, your goals and resolutions are essential. Napoleon Hill, in Think and Grow Rich, said it perfectly. “The starting point of all achievement is desire. Keep this constantly in mind. Weak desires bring weak results, just as a small amount of fire makes a small amount of heat.”

I outline the 6 step formula for goal setting and achieving your dreams in the video below.

Before you follow this approach, remember you must really, really want to attain your goal. Visualizing, planning, committing, and reviewing progress will be instrumental to achieving success!

This system may seem easy or trivial but trust me, it’s the most influential technique you will ever use. It’s just a matter of taking action!

Are You Ready to Burn Your Ships?

The story I share in my video below is a great parable to what I’m writing about today. You need to be committed to be successful.

One thing I want to point out is that I’m not saying to, ‘cut off your escape routes’ like the general did in my story. Don’t just quit your current job the day you decide to pursue an online business. Even with a burning desire to succeed, you don’t want to be stranded without an alternative route. If you quit your job to start an online business, you may go bankrupt before you succeed. Sure, you may be very motivated the entire time, but it may not be enough. I suggest starting the business part time, gain some experience and jump ships when your online business can pay your bills. But you need to start living this committed mindset from the moment you decide to pursue your business goals.

For me, having the desire and willingness to commit to my businesses brought me success. When I acquired this mindset things started to change. I approached my businesses like there was no turning back. I was truly committed. ‘Burning my ships’ turned desire into reality.

Start Failing!

You may have heard the phrase “Fail Forward”. What could that possibly mean? No one wants to fail at anything! Society doesn’t accept failure. Well this is one of the reasons so many entrepreneurs don’t reach their goals.

Most people shy away or do everything possible to avoid stepping over the boundary of their comfort zone for fear of failure. If we are willing, we can actually learn from our failures and get one step closer to success. Failure will actually help us reflect on lessons learned and what to look for (or avoid) in the future.

Private Wealth Group Conference in the Dominican Republic

Last month, Jackie and I traveled to the Dominican Republic for the annual M3 Private Wealth Group conference. We added a few additional days to the trip to relax and enjoy the area. We sailed, swam, read… we did it all (or as much as possible since Jackie is expecting!)

From the day we stepped onto the resort we met some of the WMI community and instantly created friendships that will last a lifetime. To be surrounded by people that share the same beliefs and values is very powerful.

The location was magnificent. The beaches were beautiful, the pools were spectacular, and the gardens were stunning. While I’m not one to typically endorse all inclusive resorts, it worked well for this event.

Amidst breathtaking surroundings, we were introduced to experts who presented wealth building opportunities. These M3 alliances represent some of the best strategies and best kept secrets in the world.

One influential speaker included Harry Dent, a distinguished financial newsletter writer. His latest book, “The Great Depression Ahead”, is definitely a must read! Another outstanding presenter was John Perkins. He’s the best selling author of “Confessions of an Economic Hit Man” and really provided thought provoking presentations. The quality of ALL the presenters and the integrity of the individuals far exceeded our expectations.

While we had a week full of strategies to grow and protect our wealth, a large focus was on developing relationships and defining the power within us. We participated in activities that pushed our boundaries and fears. There are two very memorable experiences that should be mentioned. We literally broke through our fears which were represented on boards. In another exercise, Jackie and I bent rebar with our necks.

This was truly a lifestyle experience with remarkable accomplishments and personal fulfillment. We were pushed to raise our level of personal and financial awareness!

2 months have now passed since our trip and we have already implemented some of the financial strategies and are breaking barriers on a daily basis. We are now looking forward to the next event in November!

Use Your Thank You Page to Alleviate Subscriber’s Remorse

It’s not uncommon for your leads to feel buyer’s remorse or subscriber’s remorse as it’s known in the online marketing industry. It’s the state of mind of a person after they’ve purchased a product outside of their comfort zone or provided their contact info to a stranger on the internet. In order to soothe and counteract these feelings, you need to follow up in some way after the initial transaction.

When your lead first opts in, they know very little about you. They expect to receive the information they were promised on the landing page and also hope to see information that validates their decision to give you their personal contact information.

You’ve got to follow up on a thank you page in a way that builds rapport and a relationship. This trust process needs to start right away.

Remember, you are laying the foundation. By taking extra care with your new customers, you lay the foundation for a long and profitable relationship with them.

Squeeze, Capture, Landing, Opt-In… Whatever You Call It, This Page is CRITICAL for an Income Producing Sales Funnel

Squeeze Pages, Capture Pages, Opt-In Pages… I’ll refer to them here as Landing Pages. This is the page that appears when a potential customer clicks on your advertisement or finds your link in the search engine results. Your landing page provides a continuation of the conversation that began in your ad. If you give your visitors exactly what they were looking for, you will have a captive audience.

You should create targeted landing pages anytime you can control where people will be coming from, and your goal is a specific transaction such as sales or sign-ups. This is particularly true if you are paying for the traffic, with banner ads, sponsor links, or pay-per-click.

I see so many online marketers sending visitors to replicated websites that aren’t even capturing contact information. Obtaining this information is critical if you want to start building trust and a relationship with your prospective customers. Since a majority of visitors will NOT purchase anything on their initial visit, this is imperative.
